Day 1 Here We Go

Our babies came a bit early... 15 weeks premature to the day. They are not just small, they are STILL developing and not able to live without machines and doctors. This link is a good one - every week matters in how they are expected to behave.

Adelina is the strongest of our trio and the most active. The stat on babies born this early is 1/3 will NOT survive. The first 24 hours are critical and every week thereafter gives us hope of survival. Triplets are a whole other story because their growth is hindered by space in the uterus closing in on them. At this point in time, our trio was acting normal for their age and awaiting all the normal tests.

Adelina's Stats Today:
  • Remains on bubble CPAP (use of non-invasive CPAP
modality is associated with lower incidence of chronic lung
disease (CLD) compared to NICUs that utilize endotracheal
intubation and mechanical ventilation more frequently)
  • Given insulin for blood sugar
  • IVs in stomach remains for blood draws and fluids
  • Still under lights for jaundice
  • Made first BM
